PKS 1

PKS 1 – Description

The PKS 1 tilting mirror system was developed for fast, fine mirror adjustment.  It can be used with ½-inch and 1-inch mirrors. For laser beam stabilization the PKS 1 can be integrated into the beam line easily. The compact design and high stiffness are a perfect match for dynamic applications. Laser beam steering can be realized in nearly real time.

The piezo-driven range of fine adjustment of 1 mrad can be offset in a range of ±2° by using the fine-thread thumb screws. The controlling voltage range is -20 V to 130 V, and the resolution accuracy is dependent upon the noise level of the applied control signal.

Cable configuration can be changed for OEM applications upon request. The series PKS is adaptable to vacuum conditions.

PSH 25

PSH 25 – Description

The PSH 25 serves the fast and precise positioning of optical components. Mirrors or prisms can be positioned in the mrad range at up to several hundred kilohertz.

This tip-tilt steering mirror platform is characterized by the positioning of optical components in two axes. A tilting range of up to ±20 mrad (open loop) / ±16 mrad (closed loop) is available. Another key feature is the easy exchange of different optical components.

The tilting system PSH 25 can be equipped with an integrated strain gauge positioning sensor. Positions can be controlled very exactly and a previously established tilt range can be set and repeated.

Optics and optical components in various sizes can be mounted on to this tilting system.

PSH 10/2

PSH 10/2 – Description

The PSH 10/2 mirror positioning system consists of 4 piezoelectric actuators – 2 stacks for each axis, controlled in conjunction with each other. These actuators provide tilt to the top plate on 2 rectangular axes. Their construction is temperature compensated so that changes of the surrounding temperature do not affect the tilting angle. This tilting positioning stage is designed for “plus-minus tilting”. Mirror mounts are pre-loaded, thus they are well suited for dynamic applications.

The high resonant frequency of this mirror positioning systems also allows for excellent dynamic operation. An integrated strain gauge measurement system is available for closed-loop application.

PSH 40

PSH 40 – Description

The PSH 40 SG was developed as a fine-steering mirror to withstand challenging environments, such as rocket launch conditions and external shocks. Typical applications include aerospace vehicles, as well as space to ground communication.

Mirror positioning is possible within a tilting range of up to ±18 mrad (open-loop), and ±15 mrad (closed-loop).

The tilting system PSH 40 SG can be equipped with an integrated positioning sensor. Positions can be controlled exactly, and a previously established tilt range can be set. The positioning is highly repeatable with 13 µrad accuracy. Due to the three piezo stack design, tip-tilt motion is possible in two axes, while the pivot point can be moved to allow for highly adjustable beam guidance.

The system has completed a series of shock, sinusoidal and vibration tests and is ready for use in applications in challenging environmental conditions. The system has a small form factor with a height of only 32 mm and a weight as low a 140 g (depending on housing options).
